How to Navigate the Puget Sound Ferry System

Washington operates the largest ferry system in the US. Here are some of the most popular routes around the Kitsap Peninsula. More information can be found on the provided agency websites.

Bremerton to Seattle – From Bremerton to Seattle, there are two ferry options:

  1. Vehicle and walk-on passenger ferry:
    • 55-minute crossing time
    • Departs from Bremerton Ferry Terminal to Pier 50 in Downtown Seattle
  2. Passenger-only ferry:
    • 25-minute crossing time
    • Departs from Bremerton Ferry Terminal to Pier 50 in Downtown Seattle

Port Orchard to Seattle – From Port Orchard, take the Southworth to Fauntleroy ferry from the Southworth Ferry Terminal. This ferry serves both vehicles and walk-on passengers. It may stop at Vashon Island before continuing to Fauntleroy in West Seattle.

  • Direct crossing (no Vashon stop): 30 minutes
  • Two-stop crossing (includes Vashon): 40 minutes
  • Fauntleroy is 19 minutes from Downtown Seattle

Poulsbo to Seattle – For traveling to Seattle from Poulsbo, there are a few different ferry options:

  1. Bainbridge Island to Seattle:
    • Vehicle and walk-on passenger ferry
    • 35-minute crossing time
    • Departs from Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal
  2. Kingston to Seattle:
    • Passenger-only ferry
    • 40-minute crossing time
  3. Kingston to Edmonds:
    • Vehicle and walk-on passenger ferry
    • 30-minute crossing time
    • Recommended if traveling north of Seattle
